 | | Paul Pino
| Paul Pino was raised “free range” on the wide open prairie of New Mexico where his family has ranched for five generations. He has been a special education teacher and administrator for Albuquerque Public Schools for 25 years. The day after retiring from APS on May 23rd, 2008 he will start his fulltime music career.
Paul feels very fortunate and blessed to have written and recorded several songs which have become classics. “Las Estrellas De Nuevo Mexico” is a tribute to the Spanish musicians who have helped the genre flourish here in the Land of Enchantment. “Pasale” is a goodtime dance song which resurrects the atmosphere of dance halls like the former Nike Tavern in Carrizozo.
Paul has now completed a new CD, “Carrizozo,” which contains many original songs. Paul’s original songs reverberate with the experiences and visions you only encounter in the hard-bitten, cactus strewn, flash flooded, parched, windblown, frozen, burning, windy, stunningly beautiful deserts and cool mountains of New Mexico.
Musical influences include Spanish music, the wind, the rain, and the melodies he hears in the voices of the people of New Mexico.
Through writing songs, recording and performing, Paul hopes to maximize publicity for New Mexico music and culture, help older and younger musicians get some exposure by doing cameos at his performances, help businesses who help New Mexico artists, help communities, programs and churches, encourage people of retirement age to pursue professional musical dreams, find like-minded musicians to work on these goals, become the world’s first solar powered band, and play bars and dancehalls as well as acoustic guitar songwriter events. |
